Meet Our Returning Director
Beth Owen-Mishou is a married mother of three who resides in Newington, Connecticut. During the school year she works for the Cromwell Public Schools as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Her love for camping began when she was a small child. After her freshman year of college she started working at summer camps. She held positions at camps as: Arts and Crafts Director, Preschool Program Director, Program Director, Assistant Camp Director and Camp Director. Beth has had over 25 years of summer camp experience and is looking forward to sharing new experiences with the campers and staff at Camp Claire.
Beth has numerous connections to the Meriden community. Her mother, Mary Ellen Brown was born and raised in Meriden and was in the first class to graduate from Platt High School. Charles Tolis, her step-father, managed the Meriden Theatre on South Broad Street. The theatre was a family business for 30 years. Beth and her brothers and sisters worked at the candy stand as teenagers. Her great grandfather, Salvatore Cerasale immigrated to Meriden from Campangna, Italy at the turn of the century. He started a tailor shop on East Main Street which he maintained for over 50 years. Dominic Yanelli, her great uncle, owned and operated the IGA Grocery Store on East Main and Broad Streets for several decades. Jasper Brown, her great-grandfather was a salesman for Swift and Company when it operated on North Colony Street. Finally her grandfather, Arthur Brown was a silversmith with International Silver Company for 45 years.
